Pest Exclusion
What is pest Exclusion?
Pest exclusion is an important part of an integrated pest management (IPM) program in today’s greener marketplace. IPM (a more holistic and healthier kind of pest control) that utilizes the pests natural habits and biology against them by sealing those travel corridors and pest entry points off as well as making more targeted applications of products designed for specific pest biologies are becoming more popular these days.
How it works
Sealing and protecting all possible ways of pest entrance into structures such as our homes, offices, restaurants, schools, hospitals, and so on – is the key to pest exclusion. This can include improperly sealed or damaged foundation vents, door sweeps, gaps around plumbing pipes & electrical wiring, foundation cracks, drain pipes, and other access points that aren’t securely sealed. Of course, some areas of the building must stay open and able to “breathe” to some extent; the goal is to eliminate any needless open entry points. It’s also critical to keep windows/doors closed and screen meshes fastened and in good shape to reduce unwanted insects and critters from entering.
